Kota Kinabalu: Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Masidi Manjun has congratulated the team responsible for the emergence of Rumah Terbalik (Upside Down House) in Tamparuli, the first of its kind in Malaysia.

It is located at Mile 21, Jalan Berungis-Tamparuli, Kg Telibong in the Tuaran district. "The concept of the inverted house is a very innovative and creative idea, which I am pretty sure would be a hit with local and international visitors alike.

"I was told that the number of visitors has been overwhelming," he told Daily Express after a courtesy call by the owner cum operator, Alexander Yee, project architect Cheong Kok Ann and engineer Paul Yap, to brief him on the house at his office at Wisma Tun Fuad Stephens, here, Wednesday.

On Monday alone, being a public holiday, some 1,500 people visited Rumah Terbalik. Yee presented the Minister with a 20-page picture book on the building and its interior. Masidi said he has accepted the invitation to officially open the "upside down house" next month.

Also present was the Sabah Tourism Board General Manager, Datuk Irene Charuruks.
