KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s east coast can boast of new attractions showcasing more of the state’s eco tourism assets.
A 33-meter high tower atop the 880m Mount Silam in Lahad Datu district provides visitors a birds’ eye view of the scenic Darvel Bay.
And over at the Kinabatangan district, a soon to be constructed jetty at the Imbak conservation area is spelling easier access to visitors to one of Sabah’s last remaining pristine forested areas about the size of Penang island.
Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman who was at the launching of the RM1.8mil Menara Kayangan recently, said that the new landmark would pave the way for more recreational and eco tourism facilities in Lahad Datu.
“In this regard, the Sabah government had approved an allocation of RM4.2mil to develop more tourism related facilties on Mount Silam,” Musa said in his speech which was read out by state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.
